Barrhead Y (0) v Gleniffer Thistle (4)

First game of the Under 14 season and Gleniffer couldn't have started with a harder one as they were up against last years League and League Cup champions away at Cowan Park, Barrhead.

Gleniffer took control of the game in the first 15 mins and missed some early chances, however the deadlock was broken with a superb strike from Gleniffer's Chris McStay outside the penalty box to be 1-0 up at half time. The second half was similar to the first half and Gleniffer continued to dominate the game and took the chances that were missed first half these goals came from some good work from Midfield and allowed the strikers Mark Russell to score a double and Adam Drummond finalised the game with a late fourth. Gleniffer ran out deserved winners and have now got off to a good start in the League.

Mossend F.C (2) v Gleniffer Thistle (5)

The second league game was held at Hamilton Palace grounds in Hamilton and the team struggled to make the Kick off arranged for 06.30 p.m and subsequently started the game 30 mins late and with a torrential downpour did well to continue

Again Gleniffer started the first 15 minutes well and were 1-0 up due to a well organised corner resulting in Darren Kennedy unleashing a fantastic strike all of at least 30 yards into the opposing teams net, however Mossend took up this challenge and hit back in 30 mins to level the score just before half time 1-1. This made up for a cracking second half and was evenly poised until good work by Chris McStay crossed a good ball across goal for Mark Russell to guide the ball past Mossend keeper, the combination between Mc Stay and Russell was reversed for Gleniffer's third goal as this time good work down the wing and perfect cross for McStay to finish well. The substitutions made throughout the second half also made some telling contributions none more so than Robbie Cameron who scored two goals one of which was a ferocious shot just inside the box, which flew by the keeper, however Mossend were not done and came back with a well taken second goal.

Date: Saturday 29 August 2009

Gleniffer Thistle (11) v Dunoon YFL (1)

Gleniffer started this game missing some early chances and in the first attack Dunoon took advantage of some poor defending and scored, this had an immediate impact with Gleniffer  then totally controlling the game and scored 5 goals before half time, goals coming from Mark Russell (3), Chris McStay (1), Dylan McCann (1). The second half was a continuation of the first, which resulted in Gleniffer scoring a further 6 goals coming from Robbie Cameron (3), Connor Hibbert (1), Kerr Hunter (1) and Adam Drummond (1)

Saturday 5th September  1st Round Scottish Cup,

Johnstone Burgh (1) v Gleniffer Thistle under 14s (2)

With both teams having good starts in the league this was going to be a cracking cup tie and it turned out to be the case.
Due to the weather the venue was changed late in the week from Thomas Shanks park Johnstone, to Astro turf at Nethercraigs, Pollock.

Gleniffer started the game well and created plenty of scoring opportunities, however it took Glennie until 25 mins in the first half to score and came from a powerful driven shot just inside the 18 yard box by Chris McStay and just 5 mins later Gleniffer scored a second and came from a wonderful overhead kick by Mark Russell to make it 2-0 at half time. The second half seen Johnstone Burgh come more into the game and when they capitalised on a slack pass in defence to score it set the seen for an enthralling Cup tie. The game went from end to end with Johnstone trying to equalise and Gleniffer trying to score a third, however chances were missed by both teams and the game ended with Gleniffer winning 2-1.

Thursday, 10 September 2009  League Game: KGV, Renfrew

Gleniffer Thistle (0) V Dumbarton United (1)

This was Glennie's fourth league game and for the first time the team seemed to have a slow start, which allowed Dumbarton to take control and they were deservedly in front when they crossed a ball across Gleniffer's back line and the only player to go for the ball just inside the box was a Dumbarton player who struck a ferocious shot past the helpless Gleniffer keeper in 15 mins of the first half, the remainder of the half was played with neither team making any real goal threats. The second half started as the first finished, however with only 15 minutes of the game to go Gleniffer started to have a real go and created plenty of goal scoring opportunities, however chances were squandered by Kennedy, Russell and Drummond it was just not going to be Glennie's night and suffered their first league defeat of the season.

Saturday, 12 September 2009 League Game: Inchinnan

Erskine B.C (3) v Gleniffer Thistle (3)

The game started with Gleniffer immediately taking control, however against the run of play and Erskine's first real goal threat came in 17 minutes when slack defending allowed Erskine to score the first goal, the game was stopped numerous times for Glennie players to be judged offside, which to say the least were very controversial decisions. Gleniffer continued to create chances incredibly they only found the net 1 minute before half time with a good run and finish by Darren Kennedy to make the score 1-1 at half time.
The second half was also blighted by other decisions, however on 15 minutes of second half Glennie scored another good goal with a solo run and finish by Mark Russell. Somehow Glennie let Erskine back into the game, which started with a poor pass from Glennie and resulted in Erskine finding the winger free on the left to take advantage and score. Gleniffer once again took the game to Erskine and with 10 mins to go got their reward with another good goal taken by Mark Russell to make it 3-2 to Glennie, however with less than 3 minutes to go Erskine scored an equaliser but Gleniffer officials were incensed that an infringement prior to the goal where 2 Erskine players collided with Aiden Devine who was left injured on the ground that had a direct impact on Erskine scoring was hard for all associated with Gleniffer to take and feel that it is 2 points lost .

Saturday, 19th September 2009 Scottish Cup: - 2cnd Round

Gleniffer Thistle V Aston Villa B.C

Saturday 19th September

Under 14 Scottish Cup 2nd Round

Gleniffer Thistle 2 v Aston Villa B.C 0

This had the making of a cracking cup tie and so it turned out to be
The was a keenly contested game from Kick off with both teams challenging for everything, however Glennie just edged control of the game in the first half although chances to score were rare and the first half ended 0-0 with both teams defences playing well.

The second half was as competitive as the first, however Glennie started to impose more in the game and were pressing for an opening goal, which duly came in 15 minutes into the second half and came about from a corner resulting in the ball being partially headed clear by Aston Villa and fell to Glennie's captain Ross Geddes on the penalty spot who instinctively hit a superb strike which flew into the top right of goal to put Glennie ahead.
This game was far from over as Glennie pushed for the all important second goal and Aston Villa tried to get the equaliser. which nearly came as only 5 minutes later Aston Villa striker made a run going past 3 defenders and luckily for Glennie his shot just went by the post. This had an impact on Glennie and the telling substitutions made also played their part none so more than Adam Drummond, with 10 minutes of the game remaining Adam picked up the ball just outside the 18 yard box, shimmied by the Defender and with still some work to do struck a brilliant low drive shot that hit the inside of the post and scored to make it 2-0 to Glennie and game finished. This was a superb team effort from Gleniffer and all players contributed to this win, however I think it is worth mentioning the excellent defensive display to ensure they kept a clean sheet.

Saturday 26th September 2009:  League

Gourock YAC (3) v Gleniffer Thistle (4)

Gleniffer started the game well and had the majority of play in the first half and were unlucky not to be in the lead, however in 20 minutes the best chance fell to Gourock and were denied a goal by Glennie keeper Mark Parsons to keep the score at 0-0. This had an immediate impact on Glennie and they scored in 25 minutes, this was created by Colin Rose's split pass, which was chased by Chris McStay resulting in the Gourock defender being pressurised into making a poor pass back to their keeper, which Chris was first to react and coolly finished to beat the out coming keeper. Three minutes later another telling pass this time by Mark Russell that found Robbie Cameron and with his pace left the Gourock defence and slotted the ball past the Gourock keeper to make it 2-0 Gleniffer and with barely 2 minutes of the half remaining another fine run and finish again resulting in Robbie Cameron scoring his second and Gleniffer's third, 3-0 at half time.

Second half seen Gleniffer make changes and in 11 minutes substitute Dylan McCann put thro a nice pass to Darren Kennedy who raced to goal and hit a low drive just outside the box, which the Gourock keeper could only parry and Mark Russell got to first and shot past the helpless keeper for Gleniffer's fourth goal. Gleniffer however were complacent and with 10 minutes remaining Gourock pulled a goal back, they scored a second thro their striker being allowed a free header with 6 minutes to go and unbelievably with 2 minutes remaining and with Gleniffer switched off scored a late third. The final result was 4-3 to Gleniffer, this should be a lesson that the game is not finished until the Final whistle as this was a game Gleniffer were well on top, which nearly turned into a calamity

Next Game: Saturday 3 October 2009
Gleniffer Thistle v St. Andrews

League Game: - Moredun Playing Fields
Gleniffer Thistle (8) v St. Andrews B.C (1)

With Gleniffer having some players out thro injury this was a good test in finding out the depth and quality of Glennie's squad.

Gleniffer started very well and were unlucky not to be in front in the first 10 minutes, however in the 15th minute a loose ball was collected by Glennie's Dylan McCann who was 30 yards from goal and struck a well placed shot over the St.Andrews keeper to score to put Glennie 1-0 up, Glennie continued to dominate and with some excellent play by Chris McStay down the right he crossed into the box and it was met by Kerr Hunter to head in the second goal in 20 minutes, however less than 3 minutes later  the same playmaker and with another fine cross was once again met by Kerr Hunter to put Glennie 3 up with an even better header, however the script got even better as Kerr got his hat trick in 32 minutes when scoring again with his head from a corner to make the score 4-0 at half time.
Glennie made changes at half time and must have wondered if that was right decision as barely a minute had been played when St.Andrews striker made some space unchallenged in Glennie's goalmouth and shot past the keeper. Glennie showed that they were up for this game as 3 minutes later again good work in midfield and a good delivery was again met by Kerr Hunter to score Glennie's fifth and his fourth, with just 15 minutes of second half played another corner was met by Dylan McCann to head a fine goal and make the score 6-1, again there was to be no repeat like last week and Glennie continued to get forward at every opportunity and Mark Russell put a split 30 yard pass right over the St.Andrews defence onto Adam Drummond's path onto goal and with a superb strike just inside the box flew past the disconsolate keeper, however with 5 minutes remaining Glennie again made a telling pass and same player Adam Drummond collected and fired another fine shot past the keeper to make the final score 8-1. It is worth mentioning although every team player played well and did there job there were two players who stood out Dylan McCann and Chris McStay.

Under 14 League match

Giffnock Thistle 2 v Gleniffer Thistle 2

Again this week Gleniffer were forced to utilise their squad due to holidays and none more crucial than that of playing with outfield player Aiden Devine in goals who didn't let his team mates down.

The game started well with both teams playing good football and keeping possession, however with 15 minutes played Giffnock were first to break the deadlock when their midfield player received a pass and who suprisingly found himself unmarked just inside Glennie's 18 yard box, rifled a low shot past the keeper to go up 1-0. This stirred Gleniffer and in 20 minutes a thro ball by the midfield was collected by Robbie Cameron who outpaced Giffnock's defence and went on to hit a superb strike past the Giffnock keeper to equalise 1-1, the game continued equally poised, however in 27 minutes and from a kick out by Giffnock's keeper, which went straight over and through Gleniffer's central defence and was quickly seized upon firstly by Giffnock's striker who continued to collect and shoot past the advancing Glennie's keeper to make it 2-1 to Giffnock and it stayed that way to half time.
Substitution changes were made at half time and early in the second half along with the change of team formation to be more attacking, Glennie dominated the second half and created many goal scoring opportunities but squandered many chances. With Glennie having so much possession and unable to score it looked like one of those days, however with 8 minutes of the game remaining Darren Kennedy picked up the ball at the outside edge of the box nimbly beat his player and with a good cross found Adam Drummond who superbly steered a diving header past Giffnocks keeper to equalise to make it 2-2, Glennie then continued attacking to win the game but Giffnock held out.

Saturday 24th October 2009

League Game; Moredun Playing Fields, Paisley

Gleniffer Thistle (4) v Drumchapel Amatuers (2)

With Gleniffer still having players unavailable due to illness and injuries, this was another game that utilises and sees what strength and depth is in their squad. On the positive side this week seen the return of two players from injuries, Scott Muchan who was out for two weeks and Connor Hibbert who was out for four weeks.

This was a very competitive game from kick off until the final whistle. Gleniffer showed early on that they were up for this game and in 15 minutes played, Connor Hibbert beat his opponent just inside the box, then from an acute angle rifled his shot past the Drumchapel keeper for Glennie to go ahead 1-0. Gleniffer continued playing good football and were  awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal, which Aiden Devine took and although struck it well, Glennie were a bit fortunate in that the opponents keeper was unable to hold for Glennie to go two up in 25 minutes. This goal seemed to rally Drumchapel and in a rare attack in 30 minutes, their player crossed the ball into Glennie's box, which the defence was unable to clear and were punished when the Drumchapel striker shot into the net to make the score 2-1 and remained until halftime.
Both teams started the second half looking to either extend or equalise, Glennie got a third goal in 10 minutes of play and it came from Aiden Devine to score his second and Glennie's third, which he received the ball all of 30 yards from Drumchapel's goal and with a fantastic left foot shot it screamed past the keeper into the top right of goal. Drumchapel were awarded a penalty in 50 minutes, however it came about from a shot that struck a Glennie's defender arm unintentionally, Glennie's keeper Mark Parsons got his hands to the penalty but was unlucky not to keep out. Glennie continued to press for the goal that would see victory and it came in 60 minutes from a cross from Dylan McCann that was not cleared by Drumchapel's defence and Mark Russell was first to react and shot past the keeper to make the score 4-2. Glennie ran out worthy winners and although all of the squad played well, its worth mentioning none more so than Aiden Devine and Colin Rose.

Next Game: Saturday 31 October 2009

Scottish Cup: 3rd Round Away to Condorrat B.C

Saturday 31 October 2009

Scottish Cup Game: 3rd Round, Played at Kilsyth Road, Queenzieburn

Condorrat B.C (0) V Gleniffer Thistle (1)

This was going to be an enthralling game as both teams had been doing well in the league and cup games, also added the fact that Gleniffer's opponents were league and two cup winners last year.

The game started with Gleniffer taking the initiative from kick off and with only 2 minutes played, Darren Kennedy put a through ball, which was for Mark Russell just inside Condorrat's penalty box who inturn hit a first time shot low and into the inside of Condorrat's right hand post to give Gleniffer a teriffic start to go 1-0 up. This did not have the desire effect for Gleniffer and it was Condorrat who after the goal started to slowly but surely started to take control of the first half with there big striker and speedy winger giving Gleniffer's defence problems, they also managed to hit Gleniffer's net twice, however the ref was well up with play to call rightly for offside on both occasions. It remained 1-0 at half time with the last 20 minutes being with Gleniffer's backs against the wall.

Substitution changes were made by Gleniffer both at half time and throughout the second half. The second half started with the opposition changinging their formation to play three up front, however this allowed Gleniffer to take control of the midfield and with their defence playing more solidly they started to create chances throughout the second half and were unlucky not to score on several occasions, firstly by Mark Russell who shot just wide and another couple of fine runs by Chris McStay who's shots went just the wrong side of the goal twice, however the best chance fell to Kerr Hunter who received a good ball on the edge of the opposition box who nicely beat the defender to go through on goal but unfortunately his shot was saved by Condorrat's keeper. This time Gleniffer stood firm and were the better team of the second half and the score remained 1-0 at full time to Gleniffer. This was a cracking Cup tie encounter and with a much better display in the second half by the entire team, however players worthy of mentioning in this encounter are Ross Geddes and Chris McStay who gave everything to ensure Gleniffer are in the draw for the next round.

Next Game: Saturday 7th November 2009

League Game: St.Mirren B.C v Gleniffer Thistle

Venue and Time: TBC

St.Mirren B.C (0) V Gleniffer Thistle (3)

This was going to have the hallmark of a good game as both teams have been obtaining good results in the league.

The opening 10 minutes seen St.Mirren having their best spell of the match without troubling Glennie's goal, however after this Gleniffer started to take total control of the game and were creating chances and the eventual breakthrough came in 20 minutes played when a split pass by Chris McStay was collected by Darren Kennedy and raced in on goal and struck a shot that the St.Mirren keeper could only parry out again Darren Kennedy was first to react and with some work still left to do expertly shot the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0 to Gleniffer, although Glennie pushed for another it remained this score till halftime. Again substitution changes were made at half time and throughout the second half this made no difference to Glennie as they continued to dominate where they left off at half time and created many chances in the first 15 minutes of the second half with Mark Russell beating the defender and his shot at an acute angle hit the post and Chris McStay's solo run and his shot just flew over St.Mirren's bar. With Glennie pushing for there second goal it duly came in 17 minutes when Mark Russell again beat his opponent and ran on goal and cutback a good pass to Darren Kennedy who neatly slotted the ball into the goal for his second goal of the game to make it 2-0. Gleniffer were not finished and pushed for more and again with another fine run by Chris McStay although this time his shot was on target and the St.Mirren keeper although a valiant second attempt could not keep it from crossing the goal line and made the score 3-0 and that was what the final score remained.

Its worth mentioning that this was a very good overall squad performance and another game gone without conceding a goal, a couple of players who gave that bit extra in this game were Scott Muchan and Chris McStay

Next Game: Saturday 14th November 2009
Regional Cup:  1st Round  Port Glasgow Red V Gleniffer Thistle

Saturday 28th November 2009

Under 14s, 1st Round West Regional Cup

Venue; St Stephens High School, Port Glasgow (Astro)

Port Glasgow Juniors (0) v Gleniffer Thistle (3)

Gleniffer requested the league match secretary for two cup games to be played in 2 days over this weekend, which meant that Gleniffer started this game by utilising their squad. What was not planned was the call off of Glennie's Keeper Mark Parsons on the morning of the game due to feeling unwell. Gleniffer called upon outfield player Aiden Devine to play this match between the sticks and from the report below he had an instrumental role in this Cup tie.
The game started with both teams struggling early on to come to terms with the 2cnd Generation astro, this was a keenly competitive match with Port only making 2 half chances in the first half, however Glennie created better goal scoring opportunities but their finishing let them down. The score at half time was 0-0 and was about the right result overall between both teams.
Substitution changes were made by Gleniffer at half time, combined with numerous positional changes, which resulted in Gleniffer taking control of the game in the second half and with 10 minutes into play a lay off on the edge of Port's Penalty area was met by Glennie's defender Scott Muchan who struck a fierce left foot shot, which went past their keeper and into the corner of their net for Glennie to go 1-0 up, however Port battled away and only a superb save by Aiden Devine prevented Port from equalising. Glennie continued to dominate and there second goal duly came by a wonderful split pass by Colin Rose over port's defence was latched onto by Glennie striker Adam Drummond who neatly lobbed the advancing Port keeper to make it 2-0. From kick off Port were unlucky in meeting a defiant stand in keeper Aiden Devine who again made an incredible save to keep out what everyone thought was a goal bound strike outside the box. The Cup tie was truly finished with 5 minutes remaining when Port's defence got into a jam and Adam Drummond seized on their mistake only to get pulled back in the box for a penalty, this was taken and scored by Darren Gilmour to make it 3-0 to Gleniffer, which was the final score.

In summary a disappointing first half, but played a lot better football in second half and another game gone without conceding a goal. Overall Glennie can play better, however their stand in keeper Aiden Devine is worth mentioning as he had an outstanding game and our Keeper Mark Parsons is now worried.

Sunday 29th November 2009

Under 14s, 4th Round Scottish Cup

Venue; Ferguslie Sports Centre, Paisley

Gleniffer Thistle (2) v Drumchapel United (2)

This was an evenly matched encounter as both teams although different styles of football have both been having good runs in Cups and respective leagues.
Gleniffer started the game well and within 5 minutes of play were 1-0, which came from a ball sent across Drumchapel's penalty box and collected by Mark Russell who struck a left foot shot onto goal and Drumchapel defender unable to clear off line for goal. This had an immediate impact on Drumchapel and within 3 minutes of restart had equalised to make it 1-1 a through ball split Glennie's defence and their striker neatly scored. The game continued and in 20 minutes played 20 yard looping shot by Glennie's Oliver Lincoln just clipped the crossbar and went over, into 25 minutes of the half Drumchapel made the breakthrough first to score another to make it 2-1, this was from a corner swung in and the Drumchapel striker rose unchallenged to head the ball into Glennie's goal. The score remained this up to halftime.
Change to positions and substitution made immediate impact on how Glennie started to control the second half; however Drumchapel were always dangerous on the counter. Gleniffer continued to create chances throughout this half and were unlucky not to score from a good solo run and shot from Chris McStay, but the Drumchapel keeper saved with his feet, also another fine effort midway through second half when Ollie Lincoln shot from outside the box only to see it rebound off the crossbar and Drumchapel cleared to safety. This was more like Glennie and deservedly the eventually got the equaliser in 25 minutes when a cross ball was whipped in by Robbie Cameron and Drumchapel failed to properly clear and Connor Hibbert struck the ball from six yards out past the defenceless keeper to make it 2-2, with Glennie now pushing for the winner and creating chances, however they could not get that winning goal and the score remained 2-2 and both teams will have to do this all again probably next week. This was a far better team effort from Glennie in the second half and worth mentioning Darren Kennedy's contribution throughout.

Saturday 30 January 2010
League Game: Played at Seedhill Astro, Paisley

Johnstone Burgh B.C 1 V Gleniffer Thistle 2

With both teams playing well and in good positions within the P&D League this had all the hallmarks of being a very good game and all who attended this league fixture were not disappointed with this excellent encounter.

From Kick Off, Gleniffer Thistle showed that they were ready for this game and although they were dominating and controlling the tempo of the game could not find away past a stubborn Johnstone defence, although Glennie created many half chances they could not get the elusive first goal that they deserved for the display in the first half, however the nearest came from a free kick, which came about from Mark Russell as he had a good run across Johnstone's 18 yard box before being taken down. The resultant free kick taken by Chris McStay was sweetly struck knee high and hit Jonstone Burgh's post with the keeper well beaten. Johnstone survived the first half in not conceding a goal and Gleniffer had nothing to show for all their dominance and controlling of the first half (0-0) at halftime.

The second half started with the first 10 minutes being Johnstone Burgh's best spell of the game and started to create some openings, however Gleniffer's defence stood firm and with the game being opened up on both sides, it wasn't long before the first goal came for Gleniffer, it came about from a cross ball and Burgh's defence failed to clear the ball and was then picked up by Darren Kennedy who crossed the ball into the six yard area and was met by Mark Russell to score with his head to make it 1-0 Gleniffer on 17 mins of the second half. To their credit Johnstone battled back and from their goalkeepers kick out, which fell halfway inside Glennie's half its bounce beat the defence and with some work to do Johnstone Burgh's striker hit an unstoppable strike from outside the box which flew past the stranded Gleniffer keeper to make the score 1-1 on the 22nd minute of second half. Was there going to be a winning goal in this thrilling encounter the answer was yes and it quickly came after Johnstone Burgh's equaliser on 25 mins for Gleniffer Thistle, Kerr Hunter crossed the ball on the right, which was only partially cleared by burgh's defence inside their box it fell to Mark Russell who fired in a low shot across Johnstone's six yard area and Chris McStay was first to react and side foot into Burgh's net to make the score 2-1 to Gleniffer Thistle. All credit to both teams in putting on a first class football game, but overall this was a result that on the day Gleniffer were due for their display in all areas of the field.

Next Game: Saturday  6th February

League Game: Away to Dunoon

League Game: Saturday 6th February 2010

Away: Dunoon YFL (0) V Gleniffer Thistle (8)

Gleniffer Thistle started this game utilising their full squad and get everyone match fit and players coming back from injury.

The first half seen both teams trying to break the deadlock, however most of the chances fell to Gleniffer Thistle with the best to Kerr Hunter who shot wide and Connor Hibbert free header also wide of target it took 20 minutes before a ball sent through the right hand side to Robbie Cameron who sped past his defender and neatly slotted the ball past Dunoon keeper to make it 1-0 Glennie, although Gleniffer did get the ball in the net by Hunter this was adjudged to be offside by the referee? Score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The second half seen changes to both Gleniffer's line up and formation, which paid dividends within 5 mins of the second half a thro ball to Adam Drummond and turned his defender and shot past the helpless keeper for Glennie's second. The third goal came from a good solo run and finish by Mark Russell to score Glennie's third, the same player scored his second and Glennie's fourth, next to score again was Adam Drummond with his second and Glennie's fifth. With the team now totally dominating the next goal came from Connor Hibbert fine shot to make it six, again Glennie continued for more and it came via a well taken corner by Darren Kennedy and was met by Mark Russell to head into the net and complete his hat trick and the seventh. With minutes remaining Darren Kennedy made space by shimming his opponent 25 yards out from goal and unleashed a ferocious shot that Dunoon keeper could only look in bewilderment as it flew in for Glennie's eighth. This was a much improved second half and all credit to all the full squad.

League Game: Sunday 14th February 2010
Venue: Ferguslie Sports Centre
Away: St.Andrews B.C (1) V Gleniffer Thistle (3)

This game was between two teams at the opposite positions within the P&D League, however anyone at the game can testify to keenly fought encounter and all credit to St.Andrews B.C for this.

The game started lively enough and the first real chance fell to Gleniffer's Robbie Cameron in 5 minutes played his pace took him past two defenders but unfortunately his shot was well saved by St.Andrews keeper. St Andrews made a couple of chances with thro balls over Glennie's defence, however fortunately for Glennie the strikers were off target. The first goal came for Gleniffer on the right hand side of the park and came from Darren Gilmour's cross, the flight of which fooled the keeper and went into the net with 20 minutes played. After the goal Gleniffer started to create chances and the second goal duly came from a terrific thro ball by Glennie's captain Ross Geddes to Mark Russell who beat the defender to get to the ball first and ran into the opponents 18 yard box and coolly slotted past the advancing keeper in 32 minutes of first half to make it 2-0 to Gleniffer and it remained this until halftime.
Gleniffer made many changes at halftime to utilise their squad, however although Gleniffer were in control with 16 minutes played in the second half St.Andrews were awarded a penalty for hand ball, which their player scored from with Glennie keeper no chance. This goal spurred St.Andrews and had by far the best spell for 5 minutes after the goal and started to put Gleniffer's defence under pressure luckily the defence stood firm and in 22 minutes played in the second half got the third goal by slick passing from midfield players to eventual goals corer Adam Drummond who flicked the ball past their keeper to make it 3-1 again chances were made but none taken and the final score remained 3-1 to Gleniffer Thistle and a hard fought 3 points won.

Gleniffer Thistle utilised their squad as they played two games over the weekend, the first was against opposition from a league lower. From the start Gleniffer controlled how the game was going to be played and kept possession of the ball, but it took 18 minutes of the first half for Robbie Cameron to score Gleniffer's first goal and 3 minutes later the same player scored his and gleniffer's second. The third goal for Glennie was the result of good passing of the ball and a ferocious shot from Ollie Lincoln all of 25 yards that flew into the net in 30 minutes. The score remained 3-0 till halftime.
Gleniffer used all substitutions at halftime and within 1 minute of the second half Gleniffer scored there fourth goal coming from a Chris McStay strike from outside the box, 5 minutes later Robbie Cameron slotted his third goal and Gleniffer's fifth. Gleniffer continued to push and goal six came from another strike from Chris McStay which beat the keeper for his double, however Robbie Cameron wasn't finished and neatly finished past the helpless keeper for his fourth goal and Gleniffers seventh. Goal number eight came from a nicely flighted corner kick taken by Darren Kennedy and defender Grant Cunningham rising above everyone to head into goal to finish game off Mark Russell scored the ninth with a first time shot. Overall a convincing win for Gleniffer to progress to the next round.

League Game: Sunday 7th March 2010
Venue: Ferguslie Sports Centre
Home: Gleniffer Thistle (2) v Mossend BC (2)

This league game was a fiercely contested from the Kick Off, however the first half was controlled by Gleniffer with Mossend using long ball to very quick players upfront to counter attack. Gleniffer created the bulk of the first half chances and with the Mossend keeper making three outstanding saves the first from Robbie Camaron who shot from six yards and saved in 15 minutes, the next was a solo run by Mark Russell and his shot again was goal bound but their keeper put round the post in 20 minutes and the third was a well struck shot outside the box by Ollie Lincoln, however to Gleniffer's dismay again the keeper touched over the bar, the deserved opening goal for Gleniffer came from a good run by Darren Kennedy and crossed an inch perfect cross to Chris McStay who headed in the opening goal in 28 minutes of first half, this score 1-0 to Gleniffer remained till halftime.
The second half seen Gleniffer having more possession but couldn't unlock Mossend's defence to get the second goal, however in 15 minutes of the second half and from a Gleniffer header saved by Mossend keeper he kicked the ball high and long, which had Glennie's defence stretched the Mossend striker was quicker to react and collected the ball first and skipped by defender to slot ball past Gleniffer's keeper to make score 1-1. This seemed to stir Gleniffer and 5 minutes later good work by Mark Russell beating two defenders down the left and running in at an angle to goal cut the ball back in the six yard box and Robbie Cameron shot to score Gleniffer's second goal to make it 2-1, however with 10 minutes remaining Mossend scored an equaliser from an unstoppable shot from outside the box. This triggered Gleniffer to push for winning goal and Ollie Lincoln's shot hit the bar and Mark Russell shot was kicked off the line. The score finished 2-2, however Gleniffer would feel that its two points dropped since their overall performance was good on the night.

League Game: Saturday 20 March 2010

Home: Gleniffer Thistle (5) v Glenvale B.C (2)
Venue: Glenpatrick, Elderslie

This was a fiercely competitive encounter and both teams looking for 3 points, however Gleniffer Thistle had most of the play in the first half, however they could not find away past Glenvale to score the opening goal, indeed it was Glenvale with a rare attack that opened the scoring from a long range shot 30/35 yards out in 18 minutes of the first half. The next goal again was scored by Glenvale, which came about from Gleniffer protesting that a handball was used by Glenvale striker and with no whistle blew, Glenvale shot into a stunned Gleniffer's goal to make it 2-0 to Glenvale in 22 minutes. This seemed to have the effect as Gleniffer went and scored immediately, however the ref judged that there was an infringement and the goal was disallowed. Gleniffer did score with Chris McStay firing the ball into the net from 6 yards in 31 minutes the score remained 2-1 to Glenvale at halftime.
The second half seen changes in line up and formation and within 5 minutes played good work down the rightside by Oliver Lincoln who provided an inch perfect cross to Mark Russell who nicely slotted the ball past Glenvale's keeper to make score 2-2. Gleniffer were now in total control and pushed for more, which duly came from a freekick taken by Aiden Devine to Ross Geddes who angled the ball into Glenvale's net to make it 3-2 to Gleniffer in 45 minutes played. The next goal came from a long pass to Mark Russell who beat Glenvale's defence and struck a well taken shot just inside the box to score his second and Gleniffer's fourth of the game 4-2. With Gleniffer now attacking at will the final goal came from a fierce shot from Aiden Devine that cannoned off the bar and Glennie's Adam Drummond was well positioned to head into Glenvale's net to make the final score 5-2 and a well deserved 3 points.

Hamilton Inverclyde 2 v Gleniffer Thistle 4

Penilee Playing Field

This was a thrilling encounter, which tested Gleniffer Thistle's strength and depth of squad as they went into this game with only 12 players available.

The first half started with both teams playing some nice football to try and score the opening goal, Gleniffer created the best chances but were unable to capitalise until 20 mins of play in the first half when Robbie Cameron flighted a ball to Mark Russell on the edge of the box who instinctively lobbed the ball first time over the stranded Hamilton keeper to make the score 1-0 to Gleniffer, however Hamilton ensure that this was going to be a fight for the 3 points when there defender had a solo run from his own half beating numerous players continued and finished with a shot that flew past Glennie's keeper to make the score 1-1 and this remained until half time. The second half started with Gleniffer starting to take control of the game with some neat passing and eventually were rewarded with a goal with some slick passing between Colin Rose and Aiden Devine in Midfield that found Mark Russell on the left and his perfect cross along the six yard box seen Adam Drummond neatly volley into Hamiltons net 2-1 to Gleniffer in 6 minutes of second half. Gleniffer continued to push and again a nice passing move was once again finished by Adam Drummond to score his second and Gleniffer's third 3-1 in 15 minutes of second half. Hamilton to their credit scored a minute after in 16 minutes with a nice strike by their striker outside the box to make it 3-2, however Gleniffer again kept the passing and moving theme and this time Mark Russell picked up a through ball beat the defence and neatly slotted the ball past Hamilton's keeper to score his double and Gleniffer's fourth to make it 4-2 in 24 minutes of the second half. Both teams continued to look for more goals; however the score remained 4-2 in the end. With Gleniffer's captain ruled out for this game, the armband fell to Colin Rose and his contribution in this league game was outstanding in both captaincy and playing.
Gleniffer's squad can take a lot of praise from this game with their attitude and play throughout this league game to secure this hard fought win.

League Game: Monday 29 March 2010
Home: Gleniffer Thistle (3) v Gourock YAC (0)
Venue: KGV, Renfrew

With all league games important for Gleniffer Thistle this was another game that Gleniffer controlled, however Gourock pushed them all the way. The first half started with both teams trying to take control, however it was Gleniffer Thistle that slowly but surely started to create chances and it was no surprise that in 15 minutes of play Chris McStay fired in the first goal from six yards to make it 1-0 to Glennie. Gleniffer continued throughout the half to make chances, but unfortunately were off target, there was some excellent work from the defence to ensure Glennie gave nothing away and with the midfield again winning this area and spreading the ball and strikers being a threat, again with the amount of play Gleniffer Thistle added to the single goal tally this time Mark Russell on target to fire a left foot shot past the advancing keeper to make it 2-0 to Gleniffer Thistle and it remained this score to halftime. The last 10 minutes of the first half seen the weather turn bitterly cold and wet, which meant that Gleniffer used all substitutions as some players were feeling the effect of the cold.
The second half started and within 2 minutes of restart Gleniffer scored the third goal from a lovely threaded thro ball from midfield from Aiden Devine and Adam Drummond read it well and took the pass and neatly shot past the keeper from 12 yards out to make it 3-0 Gleniffer Thistle, the rest of the game seen Gleniffer create more chances but could not find away past the Gourock keeper. The final score was 3-0. Although all departments played well it was another fine performance by Gleniffer's defence none so more than Grant Cunningham and Mark Cherry. A good 3 points.

League Game: Saturday 17th April 2010
Home: Gleniffer Thistle (2) v Barrhead B.C. (0)
Venue; Ralston Playing Fields

As you would expect this encounter was always going to be fiercely competetive as they are both teams challenging for League honours this season.

The game started with Gleniffer Thistle playing nice football and were unlucky not to be ahead within the first 5 minutes, which came from a good solo run from midfield by Colin Rose, who saw his effort saved and turned away for a corner. Gleniffer created 3 good chances in the first half without capitalising, which saw strikes from Adam Drummond, Mark Russell and Robbie Cameron saved, however Barrhead were a constant threat by using the long ball to release there front men to chase, however Gleniffer's fine defensive display in the first half cancelled this out to ensure Barrhead didnt score. The score remained 0-0 until halftime.

The second half commenced as like the first with football trying to be played by both teams, however as the game went on it looked more and more likely that Gleniffer would be the team to opening the scoring and when it came it was from clever interlinking football it satrted from a pass from Adam Drummond back to Chris McStay who passed neatly to Robbie Cameron and passed along the six yard box for Adam Drummond to finish off by striking the ball past the helpless keeper to score from a move he started 1-0 to Gleniffer in 52 minutes. Gleniffer were now playing good football and were unlucky not to score from a good run down the left by Mark Russell who put an inch perfect cross to Robbie Cameron on the six yard box but unfortunately his first time volley miscued. Gleniffer again scored in the 60 minute from a well taken strike by Aiden Devine on the left hand side of the 18 yard box to scream into the top right to make it 2-0. Barrhead then pushed an extra man upfront to try and get something from the game, however the back four who had played splendidly stood firm and with a couple of minutes remaining a fine run from midfield by Robbie Cameron who raced by 2 Barrhead defenders and his shot just inside the box hit the far post to deny Gleniffer their third goal. This is a fine win for Gleniffer, which puts them on track to contend for the league. Also worth adding was Gleniffer Thistle defensive display and although there were many outstanding displays there was one who stood out and that was Glennie's sweeper Mark Cherry.

Paisley & District League Cup 2cnd Round
Monday 19 April 2010
Away: -  St. Mirren B.C 0 V Gleniffer Thistle 1 AET
Venue: St.James Playing Fields, Paisley

The game plan by Gleniffer was turned on its head as in 25 minutes of play in the first half with the score at 0-0, Gleniffer were reduced to 8 players with 3 being sent off.

The game started with Gleniffer Thistle controlling the play and creating chances but couldnt find the net, however the best chance fell to Kerr Hunter who couldnt turn into the goal and flicked over the bar. The same player was involved in that he went into a tackle with a St.Mirren player and the referee decided that it was a harsh tackle and duly sent the Glennie player off, this brought a reaction from Mark Cherry questioning the decision strongly from 30 yards away and amazingly he was also sent off, Aiden Devine then commented on the decision and again the referee sent this player off also. Gleniffer were now up against it and changed formation to a 3-3-1 to try and hold off the advantage that this gave St.Mirren the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

The second half commenced with substitutions by Gleniffer being made to bring on fresh legs, this was a continuing theme throughout this match that Gleniffer rotated players all 12 of them to ensure that the 8 players on the park gave their all at anyone time.Unbelievably it was Gleniffer who went close in 50 mins of play with the ball being cleared off St.Mirren goal line after the shot from Chris McStay, the clearance fell to the same player and this time his shot struck the post. Glennie stuck to there tasks and tried to hit on the break with the lone striker and kept St.Mirren at bay with some heroic tackling and running to ensure they didnt concede. Again they kept the score at 0-0 at fulltime and as though that wasnt enough had to play an additional 20 minutes of extra time.

The first half started in extra time with Gleniffer's 8 players giving their all and 5 mins into the game and a flash of genius by Chris McStay seen him collect the ball in midfield ghost past three St.Mirren players and put a perfectly weighted split pass through their defence and Robbie Cameron's thinking and pace seen him collect and nicely slotted the ball past the opposing keeper to make the score 1-0 Gleniffer, this score remained until the end of the first half. The second half seen St.Mirren trying to take advantage of having 11 players but could not find a way past a solid Glennie performance, however with 2 mins remaining St. Mirren did manage to put the ball in the net but there player was offside. Gleniffer Thistle's 12 players who made this team go into the next round deserve praise of the highest order for a memorable and heroic display who ran there socks off, for anyone who was at the match and witnessed this victory will not forget.

League Game: Saturday 24 April 2010
Home: Gleniffer Thistle 3 v Giffnock Thistle 4
Venue: Ralston Playing Fields (Astro)

This game started well for Gleniffer and had created two very good chances within the first 10 minutes, unfortunately for Glennie both were squandered, however they continued to take control of the game, but a contribution of bad communication and defending allowed Giffnock to take the lead against the run of play in 18 minutes. It was Gleniffer who within 3 minutes of restart lost another goal by conceding a needless penalty, which was converted with Giffnock 2-0 up. Gleniffer coaches looked on in disbelief that in 25 minutes played Giffnock scored a third from a corner kick which came about from their centre half getting a free header to score with no challenge. Gleniffer made a change to try and salvage something before halftime and in 32 minutes played and with good work down the right by Robbie Cameron who put a lovely cross into Giffnock's six yard box was met by Adam Drummond to head the ball into the net to score Glennie's first goal to make the score 3-1 to Giffnock and it remained so until halftime.

The second half seen Gleniffer starting to take control of the game again and were unlucky not to score in first 5 minutes but from good Goalkeeping, however within 10 minutes a ball collected by Aiden Devine on the left who ran on and hit a beauty of a shot, which flew into the corner of the net to make it 3-2, Gleniffer totally dominated this second half and pushed more players forward at every opportunity and were denied by some resounding defending and goalkeeping from their opponents, however in 24 minutes played in the second half and the first time Giffnock managed to get out of their half a long ball was seized upon by Giffnock striker who lobbed the keeper and although Ross Gedde s headed to clear it was picked up by another Giffnock striker to tap in from 3 yards. Gleniffer didn’t give up and chased everything and within 2 minutes left scored from a corner by Dylan McCann to make the score 4-3. The game finished 4-3 to the visitors, however many at the game couldn’t take in that Gleniffer lost, but when they defended as poorly it was always going to be a hard task to come back after conceding avoidable goals.

Under 14 League Game: Wednesday 28 April 2010
Glenvale BC (0) V Gleniffer Th (2)
Ralston Playing Fields (Astro)

The game commenced with both teams looking for all 3 points for different reasons, Gleniffer challenging for the league and Glenvale to move from other end of table to midway. It was frantic for the first 15 minutes with both teams trying to control the game; however the first chance fell to Glennie in 17 minutes but unfortunately Aiden Devine shot went over the bar.
To be fair the first half was a scrappy affair and not many chances were being created by either team the score at halftime was 0-0. Gleniffer made some substitutions and positional changes at the start of the second half and within 5 minutes had created more flowing football than the entire first half. Glennie started to take control of the game and started to make telling passes, however to be fair to Glenvale they continued to make things difficult and were resilient defensively, however with Glennie making chances and it took 18 minutes play in second half to score the opening goal that came from good midfield passing between Colin Rose and Chris McStay, with Chris picking out Robbie Cameron on the edge of Glenvale 18 yard box, he one touched the ball then unleashed a well struck shot that found the inside of the goalpost to make it 1-0 to Gleniffer. Gleniffer then continued there dominance in the second half looking for their second goal, which duly came in 25 minutes and again the through ball split the Glenvale defence and Robbie Cameron again reacted first to collect the ball and rounded the keeper to score his and Glennie's second goal. The score remained 2-0 till the end. Gleniffer can take a lot from this hard fought game along with the valuable 3 points.

Under 14 League Game; Saturday 1 May 2010
Gleniffer Thistle (6) v Hamilton Inverclyde (3)
KGV, Renfrew

With Gleniffer challenging for the league all these up and coming games are crucial, but how much do they want it. The answer to that question undoubtedly came from their performance specifically the first half.

The game commenced and it was Gleniffer who took control early with some slick inter passing moves and looked the more creative and in 5 mins of play had scored their first goal, which came from a shot on the right from Chris McStay, which Hamilton's keeper could only parry it out and Robbie Cameron pounced and slammed the ball into goal to make it 1-0 Glennie, within 5 mins from that goal Glennie scored their second goal, which came from some good passing from defence to midfield and Aiden Devine picked up on the left went by 2 Hamilton players, then beat a third in the box and at an acute angle slotted the ball past the keeper. Gleniffer who were by now playing some lovely football continued and with 16 minutes played a nice lofted pass over Hamilton's defence by Chris Mc Stay was seized by Mark Russell who ran onto goal and calmly tucked it away from the advancing keeper to make it 3-0. In 22 mins a neat pass from Ollie Lincoln and Mark Russell, which resulted in a perfect through ball, splitting their defence and this time collected by Chris McStay who beat the keeper with a well placed shot to make it 4-0. Unbelievably a fifth goal came for Gleniffer in 26 mins and again it was Aiden Devine who similar to his first goal again sped down the left beat 2 defenders and again at an acute angle placed the ball neatly into Hamilton’s net for his double and Glennie's fifth. Still Gleniffer pushed forward and were rewarded when Robbie Cameron's pace seen him get away but was brought down by Hamilton's defender inside the penalty box, the spot kick was converted coolly by Aiden Devine for his third goal and Gleniffer's sixth to make it 6-0 with 30 mins played. Hamilton pulled a goal back in the last minute before halftime to make it 6-1 at Halftime.

Gleniffer made 3 changes at halftime and within 5 minutes of second half put other 2 substitutions on to utilise all 5 subs. This did not have the desire effect and although still created although not as many chances were unable to take them and it was Hamilton who scored after mix up in defence to make it 6-2. To rub salt into wounds Hamilton were reduced to 10 men after 18 mins of second half, however although Adam Drummond was unlucky not to score with a good shot but an equally good save by Hamilton keeper other chances were squandered and again to their credit it was Hamilton who scored in 30 mins of second half with a terrific free kick to make the score respectable. The game finished 6-3 to Gleniffer and another 3 valuable points secured. The football played specifically in the first half is as good as seen all season, if pushed 2 players that were outstanding were Ollie Lincoln and Aiden Devine.

League Game: Wednesday 5 May 2010
Home: Gleniffer Thistle 2 v Erskine YFC 0
Venue: Ralston Playing Fields (Astro)

With every league game now being important for Gleniffer and with Erskine hitting a good run of form in the league this was always going to be a difficult game.

The game started with Erskine taking the initiative and were more dominant in the early part of the game and with there set up of a 4-5-1 formation proved very difficult for Gleniffer to breakdown. There physical side was shown when in 17 minutes of play a reckless challenge by Erskine on Chris McStay seen him being carried off much to the dismay of the Glennie coaches and the resultant culprit didn't even get booked. The first half saw more drama when the ball was retrieved by Glennie's keeper, Erskine were awarded a penalty in 27 minutes for an incident off the ball between Gleniffer and Erskine, the resultant penalty although well struck Glennie's keeper Mark Parsons pulled off a tremendous save to keep the score 0-0. There was not much goal action at either end and the score remained 0-0 until halftime.
The Gleniffer coaches gave a team talk on the need to match the physical side as there was no doubt in their footballing ability, a couple of changes were also made at halftime and when second half started it was as if a different Gleniffer team turned up as they started to play to their strengths and created more chances within the first 5 minutes of the second half than they did in all of first, with the midfield now got a grip of the game and some telling passing it was 10 minutes into second half that the all important first goal came and involved some good passing between midfielders Ollie Lincoln and Colin Rose then a forward pass to Mark Russell on the left who ran at Erskine's defence and beat two players then put over a pinpoint cross to Robbie Cameron on the six yard line who thrashed the ball into Erskine's net to make it 1-0 Gleniffer. Gleniffer were now throughout the second half creating chances and it came as no surprise when they got the second goal in 20 minutes, which killed the game again it was the same provider Mark Russell taking the ball down the left and again a telling cross was this time met by Darren Gilmour who shot although goal bound hit off an Erskine defender but couldn't prevent going into the net to make it 2-0 Gleniffer, Gleniffer although controlling couldn’t add to this tally and the game ended 2-0 Gleniffer Thistle, which is another 3 invaluable points. The Gleniffer player that stood out in this game was Darren Gilmour for his overall contribution.

League Game; Saturday 8 May 2010
Home: Gleniffer Thistle 4  v Johnstone Burgh 2
Venue: Ralston Playing Fields (Astro)

This game was crucial for both teams, Gleniffer Thistle to go ahead for the league title and for Johnstone Burgh to stay in contention.

The game started as you would expect with both teams trying to take control of the game with so much at stake, however it was Gleniffer who took control and started to pass the ball around and made some chances in the first 15 minutes, however the all important first goal deservedly was Gleniffer's and what a beauty a ball fed from midfield to Aiden Devine outside the 18 yard box, who instinctively beat his opponent with a shimmy and unleashed a ferocious shot that flew into Johnstone Burgh's net with keeper rooted to spot to make it 1-0 Gleniffer in 20 minutes, however Burgh were not prepared to lie down and from poor defending from Gleniffer who had numerous chances to clear the ball out of the 18 yard box passed the ball to Johnstone player who struck the ball from 10 yards into Glennie's net to make it 1-1, although Gleniffer still on top could not get the breakthrough and score 1-1 remained until halftime.

The second half commenced again Gleniffer took up the control of the game where they left off in the first half and with 10 minutes played from good build up play, which resulted in the ball finding Chris McStay who beat the defender outside the box and looked up and expertly curled his shot, which found the top left of the inside post to score Gleniffer's second goal to make it 2-1 to Glennie. Within 1 minute of Kick off Johnstone scored their second goal from a penalty kick, which came about from good play from Johnstone striker who beat three defenders inside box and with trying to beat fourth defender who was judged to have fouled and penalty given and scored to make it 2-2. Gleniffer kept playing passing football and from a good ball from Colin Rose on the right found Robbie Cameron who could only unfortunately steer the ball from six yards straight at Johnstone's keeper, however it was more likely that Gleniffer were going to get the next goal and it came after some skilful play on the left by Mark Russell who beat 2 defenders who were tight on him and made a superb cross across six yard box for Robbie Cameron to slot Gleniffer's third goal in 24 minutes to make it 3-2, however this time albeit a Johnstone striker who the ref assumed was onside raced on Glennie's goal and a wonderful stop by keeper Mark Parsons denied them a goal. Gleniffer pushed for the crucial goal, which came from delightful passing and link up play in midfield started by Chris McStay to Ollie Lincoln who in turn put a thro ball to Chris McStay and he continued past burgh defence and superbly struck a shot low and hard just inside the post to score his second goal and Gleniffers fourth to make it 4-2 in 30 minutes played. This score line remained until fulltime and a deservedly three points collected to give Gleniffer a great chance in winning the league. Again there were some outstanding performances within Gleniffer's team, however Chris McStay's performance raised the bar all round.

With 2 games remaining in the League Gleniffer went into this game knowing that 1 point would be enough to take the honours for the Under 14's P&D League Division 1.This would be a test as the opposition have also had a fine run of form in the league recently.

The game started with Gleniffer taking control of the game and were passing and moving freely and showed no signs of nerves , however they couldn't get the finish they deserved. Gleniffer continued to dominate and were attacking on both flanks and shots from Chris McStay, Mark Russell Robbie Cameron and Aiden Devine were either saved or narrowly went past the post. The all important goal came from some good passing from Colin Rose and Ollie Lincoln who the found Robbie Cameron on the right wing who then burst past the defender and cut the ball across to the penalty box where Mark Russell controlled first time then unleashed a left foot shot that flew into St Mirren's net in 24 mins played to make it 1-0. Gleniffer pushed for the second and again some nice passing resulted in a through ball to Robbie Cameron who managed to get to the ball before defender and keeper and slip the ball into the net, however another defender cleared off the line. The score remained 1-0 until halftime.

The second half started with Gleniffer knocking the ball about expecting the second goal to come, however suprisingly in 14 mins played and from a free kick 25 yards out a shot was feroucious and hit the underside of the bar and went in with the score now 1-1. The next 10 minutes saw St. Mirren for the first time take control without any real penetration on Gleniffer's defence, Gleniffer made changes from trhe bench and formation, which showed their intent not happy with a draw went for the second goal and duly came in 30 mins from a ball sent into the box and a brave header by Kerr Hunter (elbow in face) hit the post and was followed up by Chris Mc Stay to slam into the net to make the score 2-1. Over the piece a win was deserved and the score remained 2-1 at fulltime and it was fitting to win the league at Gleniffer Thistle Park which was the Under 14's first game there since opening. The President of the P&D League presented Ross Geddes the Captain of Gleniffer Thistle the League Sheild for winners 2009/10 of the Under 14's Division 1 and the party begun. From all officials, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles we thank all Gleniffer Thistle Under 14's Squad for a memorable season "Away the Glennie"
