Girdle Toll U15s  1
Gleniffer Th        2

Scorer Dom Shearer 2

Carrying on from last weeks good performance Thistle were up for this game right from the kick off.
Some nice passing football ended with Shearer taking a pass from Kinnear to finish off neatly inside the box. 1-0
More chances were created but good goalkeeping kept the score 1-0 Ht
Girdle Toll equalised 10min into the 2nd half  and  had other opportunities but for the good defending from Thistles rearguard well marshalled by Gunn.
McCormack went on a mazy run which seen his shot well saved  but the keeper couldn't hold on to it and Shearer  finished it off.2-1 Ft
This was an all round good team effort with all of the squad playing their part in this victory.
A big thanks to our travelling support which the team really appreciates keep cheering us on every week.

Gleniffer 6  Inverclyde 0

Gleniffer under 14s started off this game really well and from an early corner from McKim,  Baldwin lost his marker and headed in the opener.
Shortly after Shearer played a ball over the top for Reilly to run on to and lobbed the keeper to make it 2-0
Gleniffer were now on top and Inverclyde were limited, of any scoring opportunities by a well marshalled defence especially John who was a stand out.
Just before half time Reilly got his 2nd and Thistles 3rd finishing off a neat passing move.  Ht 3-0
Several changes were made after the break making full use of our strong squad.
A good run into the box by Morrison seen him upended for a penalty, up stepped Reilly and neatly dispatched for his hat-trick  4-0
The 5th was a shot on target by Reilly which ricochet to Alkali to shoot into an empty net  5-0
The best was kept to the last from just inside the opponents half Kinnear unleashed a rocket which nearly tore the nets  off 6-0
This was an all round great team performance where every member of the squad had a part to play.

Gleniffer Thistle 0  St Andrews 1

Played on a very wet and heavy pitch Gleniffer under 15s acquitted themselves very well, it was only 3 weeks ago that St Andrews beat Gleniffer 4-2.
This time it was different and Thistle can find themselves unlucky to walk away pointless. The pitch never helped for both sides but both can take great credit for trying to play the passing game. The first half was fairly even and nearing the break Gibson in goal misplaced a clearance giving the striker an open goal 1-0, when it should have been goal less at H-T.
The second half was all Thistle pressure where Ryan Kinnear, John Deehan & Alkali Jammeh all had chances to equalise. Right on full time Thistle had a great shout for a pen turned down when Dominic Shearer was pushed from behind even the opposition agreed, but the referee seen it differently . Overall very pleased with the 100% commitment ensuring that the lads are working hard & listening at training and also a big thanks to our vocal home support keep it up.

Western Regional Cup
Date 24.01.09  Venue Kilbarchan

Gleniffer Th 2     St Andrews 1    Ht 0 - 1

This was a typical cup tie with both teams going for it right from the start. Both teams had good chances to open the scoring but Gleniffer were well marshalled at the back with Zac Gunn & Greg Cootes putting in a solid display and Ryan Gibson making some great saves with the opposition forward straight through. Minutes from half time the glens gave away a needless free kick on the edge of their own box, up stepped the saints player & dispatched the free kick into the net with keeper Gibson  unlucky not to get a stronger hand on it.

Ht 0 - 1

In the second half Gleniffer went for it and were unlucky on several occasions, up front Paul Reilly & Danny Fullerton never gave the saints defence a minutes piece. Several changes were made and this had a great effect on Gleniffer, a long ball into the saints box was not defended well and it broke to Fraser John who lashed a right foot shot high into the net 1 - 1. It was all one way traffic now and after a maisy run from Evan McCormack who struck a shot from outside the box giving the saints keeper no chance with only 5 minutes remaining 2 -  1 . Gleniffer seen out the last minutes how they began with a solid all round team performance. Each player played their part enforcing how it is a squad game and not just the 11 on the park Well done everyone and thanks to our travelling vociferous support.

Everton Yth U 15s 2   Gleniffer Th 3

This was the old cliché a game of two half's, playing against the wind in the first half Everton put Gleniffer under lots of extreme pressure and were unlucky not to go into the break with more than their one goal lead. Right from the start Everton appeared to be up for this game and this paid off when gleniffer failed to clear their lines and paid dearly for it with a nice finish inside the box by opposing forward. Everton should have really have gone on from this but good defending and luck kept them out. Nearing half time Everton added a second when their midfielder easily lost his marker and finished well inside the near post. With virtually their only chance on goal Gleniffer capitalised with a nice strike by Martin Deehan sending the teams in at Ht 2-1 for Everton

Substitutions were made and a different Gleniffer appeared in the 2nd half. This half was the same as the second except it was role reversal and it was Gleniffer with the wind at their backs piling on the pressure. Their patience finally paid off when Paul Reilly scored the equaliser which their play thoroughly deserved 2-2. With time running out a draw was on the cards or so everyone thought except the quick thinking Scott Morrison who caught out the Everton defence with a quick throw in to Paul Reilly who ran on to lob the keeper for his second and the winner Ft 2-3

This again showing that the squad will be used in full and this was evident with all the squad playing their part.
